Release of Platanus 1.2.4:

  • Bug Fixed:
    • Miss-estimation of library insert size, when the close insert size libraries are inputted, has been fixed.
    • Fixed memory leaks.
  • Modifications:
    • –tmp DIR option was added to specify the directory for temporary files. Temporary files (hidden files) may be big files based on the amount of the inputted sequences (approximately 2 or 2.5 times as large as inputted fastq file size) and many disk I/O operations may occur against these temporary files. Thus, we recommend specifying the appropriate temporary directory by using this option.
  • Improvements:
    • By omitting wasted calculation in the scaffolding step (only if using the default parameters), the speed is increased.
  • Ongoing Bug Fixes:
    • Platanus fairly infrequently tries to ensure that the memory size specified by the user, but fairly infrequent, Platanus reserved much memory size user specified. This phenomenon tends to be observed when specifying a huge memory size (e.g., –m 1200) and is only noted occasionally. We attempted to fix this memory management bug, but we have not yet been able to overcome it. We are still trying to fix this issue.
